1972 Pontiac Grand Prix Base price - $4,450 1972 was the last year of the John DeLorean long hood, short deck, 2nd Generation, Grand Prix. The Pontiac Grand Prix only came in one body style, a 2-door hard top for the entirety of it’s production life, except for 1967 the only year a convertible Grand Prix was offered. Buyers of the Grand Prix had the option of selecting the ‘SJ’ package, which included a 455 cubic-inch four-barrel V8 engine. Pontiac released a radial tire option for the Grand Prix, which improved and increased the wheel diameter from the standard 14-inch size to 15-inch.
