Basic Needs was founded in 2003 to provide clothing to the recognized low income 7,200 children/8,000 households in the tri-county area of Wake, Johnston, and Harnett. This area is served by more than 30 schools providing free and reduced lunches and 30 food pantries, but lacked a local and centralized clothing closet.
