The Connecticut Chapter of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons was created in 2012. We focus on advocacy and access to the treatment of obesity. We sponsor an annual Walk from Obesity and Obesity Summit. THE MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO ENCOURAGE COLLABORATION AMONG SURGEONS, PHYSICIANS, ADVANCED PRACTICE PROVIDERS, INTEGRATED HEALTH PROFESSIONALS AND HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS WHO TREAT THE DISEASE OF OBESITY. WORK TO PROMOTE PREVENTION, EDUCATION, AND TREATMENT OF OBESITY IN THE STATE OF CONNECTICUT. FOCUS ON IMPROVING ACCESS TO CARE FOR ALL INDIVIDUALS IRRESPECTIVE OF RACE, RELIGION, OR SOCIAL STATUS.
