New Orleans Pharmacy Museum
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum showcases its extensive collection and provides interpretive educational programs to present and preserve the rich history of pharmacy and healthcare in Louisiana; past and present. The Museum also highlights the role of Louis Joseph Dufilho, Jr. (America’s first licensed pharmacist, 1816) whose work symbolizes the beginning of a system of certifying the professional competence of pharmacists, and recognizing the vital significance of that competence for the public health.
