THE COALITION AGAINST POVERTY IN SUFFOLK (CAPS) STATES THAT IT'S MISSION IS FOR CHURCHES AND ORGANIZATIONS WORKING TOGETHER FOR POVERTY ALLEVIATION AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT IN THE CITY OF SUFFOLK, VIRGINIA. CAPS ACCOMPLISHES THIS IN TWO METHODS: 1) THEY ASSESS THE NEED OF THE INDIVIDUAL AND WHEN APPROPRIATE ASSIST FINANCIALLY OR REFERS INDIVIDUALS FOR APPROPRIATE FOLLOWUP SERVICES WITH PARTNERING AGENCIES. 2) THE NIGHT STAY PROGRAM IS A COMMUNITY MISSION TO PROVIDE WINTER SHELTER TO THE HOMELESS IN THE CITY OF SUFFOLK.
