The term "Litvak" refers to the Jews who lived in the core areas of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, lands that today are primarily in Lithuania and Belarus. The mission of Remembering Litvaks, Inc., is to undertake and support projects that preserve the history and culture of the Jewish communities that existed in those areas, including, without limitation, educational programs dedicated to researching and teaching the history of Litvak life, marking locations of historical significance to Litvaks, and improving the physical condition of Litvak cemeteries.
