Olga is a Ukrainian combat medic. Every day, she runs toward danger instead of away from it to save the wounded. She has seen more suffering than most of us can imagine. Under constant shelling, without sleep, with blood on her hands — not only from patients but sometimes from friends — she started to break inside. There were moments when she wondered if there was any light left in the world. One day, someone handed her a small Gospel of Mark. She tucked it in her bag not really expecting much. But one sleepless night, as sirens wailed in the distance, she opened it. Her eyes landed on these words: “Do not be afraid; only believe.” That verse gripped her heart. She started reading more, just a few verses at a time between evacuations and emergencies. In the chaos of war, the Gospel became her anchor. She found peace in the middle of the storm. Her hands still trembled but her heart began to steady. Olga said: “In war, I treat wounds. But God, through His Word, was healing mine.” She began to carry not just bandages but quiet hope. She prayed with the wounded. She whispered Scripture to the dying. And she smiled again — not because things got easier, but because she knew she wasn’t alone. This is the power of the Gospel.
