As the COVID-19 pandemic spread in 2020, global cereal and fertiliser prices began to rise, and surged even higher after the Russia-Ukraine war broke out in 2022. By mid-2022, the cost of key food items had doubled or more compared to previous levels. To tackle these challenges, AERC, PEP - Partnership for Economic Policy, Economic Research Forum, ODI Global, and SPARC will host a 90-minute joint session at the SPARC & Jameel Observatory event in Nairobi on October 2, 2025.
