Snipes are back in Los Angeles! Last weekend we had a great turnout with seven Snipes racing on the ocean outside of Marina del Rey. Newly elected fleet captain Gabe Rios with crew Chloe Rodriguez had a nearly perfect score in five races to take the day in very light to light wind. Snipe fleet 24 has a history dating back from the late 1930’s to the 1960’s but was dormant until 2013. Resurrected to support a group of ambitious wooden Snipes(still here!) the focus has pivoted to modern racing in the last couple of years. Many thanks to the big sister fleet 495 in San Diego and our many friendly contacts there! Serious racing, serious fun - we will be even more visible in the future. (fb)
