AMERICAN FRIENDS FOR THE PRESERVATION OF SAINT GERMAIN DES
American Friends for the Preservation of Saint Germain des Prés is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization working to fund the restoration of Paris's oldest church. We work with our French counterparts at The Preservation of Saint Germain des Prés Foundation to garner donations in the pursuit of preserving history. Our organization plans to initially support Provisional Phase 1 of the restoration process. Our mission is to foster an appreciation for French culture and arts among the general public in the United States. We hope to achieve this, in part, by participating in the restoration of the Church of Saint Germain des Prés, so it may continue to serve its parishioners and welcome hundreds of visitors who come each day to see its unparalleled beauty.

Named for the first Bishop of Paris it is today the oldest church in Paris. A magnificent repository of architectural and artistic treasures an ancient and enduring center of high intellectual attainment the home for more than 400 years to Europes leading Benedictine order the church at Saint Germain des Pres has stood watch for nearly fifteen centuries over the tumultuous history of the City of Paris. Today though approximately 90 of the renovation has been completed the church remains in need of further restoration and preservation.
