The MFSC was established by local figure skating enthusiasts, including Mary Jane Blethen, who also played a pivotal role in organizing the first local ice show and establishing the Mankato Ice Palace, now known as All Seasons Arena. The club has been a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization since 1988 and is a member of U.S. Figure Skating (USFS), the governing body for the sport in the United States.

The 50th annual ice show, themed "Cinderella: If the Skate Fits," took place in April 2025 and featured 42 skaters alongside nearly 70 alumni, celebrating the club's legacy through creative storytelling and choreography.
