Cultura Plenera is a non-profit organization dedicated to community building thru Bomba and Plena. Cultura Plenera is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to community building in Maryland, Washington and Virginia through the Puerto Rican cultural expressions of Bomba and Plena. Both Bomba and Plena are central to life in Puerto Rican communities. Cultura Plenera offers educational and musical programming intended to nurture community residents with both small and informal performances, and main stage productions. Cultura Plenera also offers opportunities for community building in Cultura Plenera-hosted events such as our “Bomba y Plena en el Parque” series and our yearly “Fiesta Boricua.” However, since the devastation in Puerto Rico caused by Hurricane Maria on 20 September 2017, our mission has expanded to supporting our sister organizations in Puerto Rico.
