THE WALLS PROJECT
Our mission is to stimulate the creative arts economy by delivering public art works that inspire urban and rural beautification, dialogue and unity. Enlight, Ignite, and Unite Communities to Break Through the Walls of Poverty. We enlight through research and education, ignite through partnerships and allyships, and unite through support of raising the voices of the unheard working poor. The Walls organization offers a bold vision for what is possible, while creating a pathway to achieving our vision through a collection of separate but integrated program services. Through creative placemaking, The Walls is educating citizens to create a skilled workforce, rejuvenating public and private structures and streetscapes, improving local business viability and public safety, and bringing diverse people together to celebrate, make change, and be inspired. In turn, these creative efforts are fostering entrepreneurs and cultural industries, generating jobs and income, spinning off new products and services, attracting and retaining new business and skilled workers, and reducing the cycle of generational poverty in rural and urban communities.

At Scotlandville Magnet High School, students are getting a real taste of entrepreneurship via the Hornet Brew Cafe, a student-run venture powered by teamwork, creativity, and hands-on learning. Developed through The Walls Project’s Culture Club after-school program, this pilot cafe wouldn’t be possible without the talented mentors and the generous support of ADF.
