Marton L. Carroll Guitar Grant - Applications due June 30! Guitar students ages 16-23 in the midwest region qualify to apply for a fully-funded grant to own a new classical guitar, hand-built by luthier Keith Adams. Only one more month to apply! This instrument will become the personal property of the recipient and will hopefully enable and inspire them in their mastery of the instrument. Winners of the grant visit luthier Keith Adams' studio to take a tour and pick out a hand-crafted, concert-quality classical guitar. Bravo to members of the SLCG Guitar Orchestra and director W Mark Akin for a wonderful performance at the St. Louis Artists' Guild this past Saturday afternoon! This group of community guitarists worked hard to prepare a beautiful program entitled 'Ready For Summer,' which featured music with a summertime feeling. Pieces included 'A Midsummer Night's Suite' by Dutch guitarist and composer Annette Kruisbrink, 'Valse de Mai' (May Waltz) by French guitarist Fabrice Pierrat, an arrangement of 'Summertime' by our very own Paul Kreter, and more! The orchestra takes break for the summer, but stay tuned for updates for future performances.
