Come to the South Alley! Our Alleyway QUIP grant project launched from our Design Committee has been realized! The installation highlights the community’s growing self-recognition as an arts community and to connect people from the Courthouse Square to the 5th Street Commons. The art installation and this alleyway becomes a tunnel that beckons people to come through and experience the joy of our downtown and its various spaces. In doing so, it highlights our values, and tells the story of our people. Using the City of Marion, IN’s official community values developed through listening sessions in the community by Marion Design Co. and the help of Lark's Song coaches everything from the words to the securing of this QUIP grant project was a community effort. Marion stands as a community with Tenacious Hope, Common Identity, Vibrant Life, Focused Action, & Deliberate Care. We invite you to come stop by the South Alley and take a look as the words reflect below you and act on you. Thanks to Henrik Soderstrom and IWU Art + Design students (Khesed, Michelle, and Jared) for building the installation, Carey Services, Wiley Metal Fabricating, Inc., Marion Design Co., Lark Song, Halstead Architects, Adam Wroughton, and our many community members, volunteers and board members for helping along the process.
