A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1 Seasoned Thoughts From God's Word Before a thought turns into a word on your lips, sift your thoughts with the Word of God to bring out the wisdom of God to the ears of others. "The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness."(vs 2) You have heard "tame the tongue" as a way to remember what we speak can bring both good and bad language forth from our mouths. "Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?"(James 3:10-11) So let our spirits plan not to pour out discord or foolish beliefs. Let Jesus speak for you and I... My Rib and I were at dinner last night and met a server named Meliza who is a student working on her Masters in International Business. She is from the country of Columbia and just 2 years in the USA learned English and speaks well. She had a joyful spirit and spoke of her mother who comes to visit her here during the holidays and she has 3 siblings at home in Columbia. We asked her if she believes in God and a follower of Jesus Christ and she said with eagerness, "Oh Yes!" At the end of our meal we all three held hands as I prayed a blessing on her soul and her days ahead at our table. She said her mom prays a lot for her too... "Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and health to the body."(Proverbs 16:24) Our words can change the thoughts of another person who listen to our tone and body language and perhaps even read our lips from a distance, So be alert with great caution at what is stored in our hearts and minds. I remember with reverence "For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether."(Psalm 139:4) What we think in secret is not thought in secret for the Lord knows our hearts. "But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answered and said to them, “Why are you reasoning in your hearts?(Luke 5:22) Got a reason to speak, let it be seasoned with God's words. so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation. Hebrews 9:28 Destination Of Eagerness Every morning we awake should be filled with a genuine eagerness as if each day we remember we are one day closer to eternal life. Like a child waiting for Christmas morning to run to the tree and see what gift awaits them. Well, we have a gift daily do we not? It is called the gift of Eternal Life that is provided at the completion of the love wrapping of Jesus Christ who gave His all for us..Every Day! A day is coming for each of us to consider that "Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,"(vs 27) The Second Coming of Christ should be a spiritual movie in our minds daily as the Lord will come either by trumpet or by expiration of our tent, but both shall know and should eagerly await daily the Lord's coming... As we stood at the base of the DC Washington Monument, I could see the White House, the Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial. One memorial structure was hidden by the trees, the Jefferson Memorial which is my favorite of the four strategically placed and figuratively it is in the shape of a cross. Built in 1884 to honor our first president, George Washington, the National Mall monument was the tallest building in the world at its time. We completed a tour of a portion of the White House with much eagerness as it took a congressional office to set up our tour. We walked the steps of those in 1884 who created something for us years later and as the celebration of 250 years as a country in 2026 occurs, we remember all those who were called by God who establishes and oversees the country who is called to be one nation under God. All the DC buildings built with human hands included churches in 1780's that we will visit on this trip. Places of worship for sinners who received eternal life by faith and salvation to come. How shall we remain eager for Christ to come again? "For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made with human hands that was only a copy of the true one; he entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God’s presence."(vs 24) As Christ is eager for us the bride, the church assembled waiting for the wedding feast, so shall we do so with much anticipation, knowing the hour only the Father knows is coming, perhaps even today, June 2nd 2025. We begin our eagerness every day as we remember who we are in Christ. The Holy Spirit will guide you in our thoughts if we allow our thoughts to be held captive in Christ. Consider your eagerness this morning...Desire, Christ, Find, Holiness.
