Fort Sullivan Chapter NSDAR Charleston South Carolina Our History The organizational meeting of the Fort Sullivan Chapter NSDAR was held on May 16 1950. The name Fort Sullivan was selected to commemorate the Battle of Sullivans Island which occurred on June 28 1776. This battle would become the first decisive victory of the American Revolutionary War. The Fort Sullivan Chapter NSDAR participates in an array of community activities supporting historic preservation education and patriotism.
