Founded by Andrews in 2012, the Troy Andrews Foundation DBA Trombone Shorty Foundation is Andrews’ vision of sharing his passion to inspire the next generation by developing their musical talent and connecting them to the city’s unique musical heritage.In New Orleans, music is everywhere: the clubs, the churches, the streets, the schools, and in the air. In our community, traditions are handed down from one generation to the next. Trombone Shorty Foundation supported this time-honored tradition of passing it on by inspiring the next generation of talented youth through music education, instruction, mentorship, and performance.

A little friend at Harriet Tubman Elementary in New Orleans mailed a letter to us at the Foundation this week, meant for Trombone Shorty. It says, "Dear Troy Andrews, I like how you and your brother were in a band together. I like when you got to stand and sing with Bo Diddley.
