History

Founded in 1946 by a group of Miami residents, the club was established based on a shared love for sailing and a passion for Biscayne Bay. Initially, it did not have a clubhouse; instead, sailors used a storage shack and anchored their boats in the basin. Over time, the club expanded to include a fully operational mooring field and became renowned for its sailing programs.

The mission of Coconut Grove Sailing Club Inc. is to foster an appreciation for sailing and provide opportunities for instruction and community involvement. It aims to sustain sailing traditions in Coconut Grove and encourage participation among people of all ages.

Programs and Events

The club is involved in various sailing programs, including lessons for both adults and youth. It is also known for hosting regattas, such as the Sailing World Cup Miami, which is part of World Sailing’s World Cup series. Additionally, it hosts the Don Q Snipe Regatta and is part of the Melges 20 Winter Series Circuit.
