On May, 13 1954, this black and white photo was taken showing a night view of the Detroit Edison Conners Creek electric power plant and seven of its nine exhaust smokestacks. The foreground view shows a guardhouse and a guard at the entrance to a parking lot area. The landmark "seven sisters" were demolished in 1996. (fb)
On May 12, 1956, this photograph of American Red Cross workers assisting area residents was taken at Lafayette School Shelter, Lincoln Park. A caption notes "Allen Park - Lincoln Park were struck by a small tornado. No major damage to homes." (fb)
