We are a 501(3)(c) founded to create bridges among residents in the Des Moines metro through initiatives like adult English Language Learner (ELL) classes. 2024 Classes: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6pm-8pm Sept 3 - Dec 19 8th & College Connections seeks to create community in our extremely diverse neighborhood, River Bend in Des Moines, Iowa, by generating, promoting and supporting projects that bring together people of differing ethnic, racial, language and religious backgrounds, of varying ages, economic backgrounds, sexual orientations and any other differences that divide us. The ELL Program and the Community Garden are projects of 8th & College Connections. Our multicultural, multilingual community welcomes all people seeking to expand their English skills, to learn and share gardening and cooking techniques, and to form friendships across social barriers in order to enrich their lives and help shape a deeper and more welcoming community.
