May 22, 2011 Fourteen years ago today, an EF5 tornado devastated Joplin, Missouri—changing lives forever. Out of the rubble, Operation BBQ Relief was born. What began with a handful of pit masters and a few smokers has grown into nearly 13 million meals delivered to communities in crisis—and the heroes who stand beside them. Today, we remember the lives lost and the resilience of the Joplin community—and we honor the power of simply showing up.
