Pi Tau Sigma

Pi Tau Sigma is an international honor society dedicated to recognizing academic excellence, leadership, and service in the field of mechanical engineering. Founded on March 16, 1915, at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, it is designated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

History

Pi Tau Sigma was established by a group of upperclassmen in mechanical engineering who sought to foster cooperation between students and faculty, promote worthwhile student activities, and cultivate leadership among its members. Initially, a similar organization was formed at the University of Wisconsin, and the two merged into Pi Tau Sigma in March 1916.
