Founded in 1983, Rebuilding Together Washington, DC is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to the rehabilitation of homes belonging to low-income homeowners in the District of Columbia who are elderly, Veterans, disabled and families with children. In recent years, we have expanded our mission by including repairs on non-profit community facilities that serve our targeted population. Rebuilding Together of Washington, DC's home repair assistance is in reality a homelessness prevention program; by making desperately needed repairs for those homeowners unable to do so themselves, we help people to stay, safe and warm, in their own homes. We preserve their primary asset, giving them some sense of security. We focus on whole blocks and neighborhoods for revitalization.
