The international organization of democratic atheist societies and individuals AAI was founded in the US in 1991. It was awarded Special Consultative status with the UN in 2013. MISSION STATEMENT: AAI’s Mission is to (i) to speak up for atheist and secular interests at governmental and supranational level organizations; (ii) support and encourage atheistic organizations around the world; (iii) defend atheists from exclusion, persecution, and threats to their lives.
