Sight Savers America, a 2024 Service for Sight grant recipient, recently hosted a clinic at the Ohio State School for the Blind. This Low Vision Program clinic gifts high-tech vision aids, like Electronic Video Magnifiers (EVMs), to children free of charge that they take home the same day. EVMs help children with low vision by enhancing their ability to read, write and independently complete daily tasks. With funding from the Delta Gamma Foundation, Sight Savers America can host clinics like these across the United States. Laurie Carey, Sight Savers grants manager, shared, "The correct vision aid can inspire a child with low vision to function independently and advance academically at the earliest possible age, providing them with improved self-esteem and overall quality of life. The primary goal of the Low Vision & Blindness Program is to eliminate the backlog of children in need of high-tech aids in the areas we serve.
