Meet team iHeart Isaac, who will be walking at the Chicago Congenital Heart Walk! ❤ Here's why they walk: "We walk in honor of our heart hero, Isaac. Isaac is a happy three-year-old who loves to walk, run, climb, play and get himself into all sorts of mischief! Isaac has Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, a significant heart defect in which the left side of his heart is very small. As an infant he had two open heart surgeries to help reroute blood flow through the heart, and he is due for another open heart surgery within the next year. These surgeries are vital as they help prolong Isaac's life, but do not solve the issue that he only has half of a working heart. This is where supporting CHD research comes into play- we will ALWAYS be waiting for new strategies and technologies to come along that will help give Isaac the best chance at enjoying a full, happy and healthy life. During his second heart surgery, Isaac was a participant in a stem cell trial for HLHS babies. The initial funding for this research trial was through the support of The Children's Heart Foundation!
