The Art Fund of Birmingham, Inc. is a separately incorporated charitable entity that exists to benefit the Birmingham Museum of Art through loans of art and other operational support. Works of art and financial assets donated to AFI as well as artworks acquired with AFI’s funds do not belong to the City of Birmingham or to the Museum itself. AFI’s financial assets are likewise separately owned and accounted for, but are managed consistent with the financial management of Museum monies. There are also specific, named funds available for art acquisition and other purposes, but all are in support of the Museum’s mission, to spark the creativity, imagination, and liveliness of Birmingham by connecting all its people to the experience, meaning, and joy of art.
