The Clinton County Historical Society was organized May 13, 1969. CCHS purchased the home in 1976 for it to be a historical museum. To procure, preserve, restore and maintain objects and items of historical interest and to study and promote an interest in and appreciation for, the historical background of Clinton County, Missouri.
