The Mission of (Polite) P’Light Society Jazz Inc., is two-fold: To preserve and pass on the art of Traditional Jazz Performance and Oklahoma Jazz History, and to utilize the Performing Arts as a catalyst to provide services to homeless and disadvantaged students. Established in 1991 as a media source for local artists, we partnered with area schools and the Oklahoma Arts Council to provide Oklahoma Jazz History Presentations. That interaction allowed us to see first-hand the many challenges that students face. Many of the students that we serve will never experience a performance by the Oklahoma City Philharmonic or Ballet Oklahoma. We’ve developed career-based arts education enrichment programs that directly address their challenges, and extend far beyond a performance or a sack lunch!
