Congratulations to student Roman from Frederick County on his documentary about emergency services. Roman writes: "Because of the decades-long efforts of 9-1-1 advocates, texting an emergency to 9-1-1 is now possible thanks to Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG911). One of the dedicated individuals who has championed NG911 for years is Sen. Cheryl C. Kagan. I recently spent a 10-hour day shadowing the Senator at the Maryland State Capitol, learning about the Senate’s role in developing and passing bills, including a bill that advanced NG911 in Maryland. I was able to interview Senator Kagan about her role in the expansion of NG911 in Maryland, and asked about her perspective on the public’s rights and responsibilities when using NG911.
