Building Homes, Rebuilding LivesEstablished in 2014, HomeAid Puget Sound is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to building and remodeling shelters, multi-unit housing, rapid rehousing and permanent supportive housing for temporarily homeless men, women and children. Under the leadership of local homebuilding "Builder Captains," HomeAid Puget Sound builds homeless housing projects with the support of trade partners and volunteers. Once projects are completed, professional nonprofit social service providers take up the baton (literally take ownership of the property) by providing programs and services that help residents regain strength and purpose in a safe environment. Programs and services provided to the new residences can include, counseling, job skills training, substance abuse recovery, childcare and much more.We serve King, Pierce and Snohomish counties in the Seattle/Puget Sound region. We are represented and supported by an alliance of local homebuilders, sub-contractors, trades, renovators and more. We are also supported by The New Home Council, 900 members in real estate and we're members of the Housing Development Consortium and the Master Builders Associations of King, Snohomish and Pierce counties.HomeAid Puget Sound Housing Development Program - This program involves primarily new construction on land that is already owned by a charity or social service agency. While some of the projects are remodels, the majority of HomeAid Puget Sound's projects are building shelters or housing from the ground up. Both new construction and renovations occur through generous contributions of cash as well as in-kind services and building materials from building industry partners, our individual donors and corporate/foundation supporters. (THANK YOU!)HomeAid Puget Sound Cares Program - After building and donating shelter and housing projects, HomeAid Puget Sound ensures its investments remain an asset to the community. Through the Cares Program, light maintenance is performed on the housing built or on the grounds where it is located or on existing buildings owned by the charity and in need for repair. We coordinate Care Days with numerous volunteers to support projects needing to be done for all nonprofit care providers serving the homeless. Additionally, through our Cares Program we conduct other vital community outreach initiatives. One example is the HomeAid Puget Sound CareKits, which are reflective (safety first) backpacks filled with essential personal hygiene items (i.e. toothbrush, tooth paste, hand sanitizer, etc), a rain poncho, socks, hand warmers, water and snacks plus 211 homelessness resource brochure and a special note to the receiver. HomeAid CareKits are distributed to those experiencing homelessness through the support of the general public and volunteers.
