Penland School of Craft is an international center for craft education dedicated to helping people live creative lives. Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, Penland offers one-, two-, and eight-week workshops in books and paper, clay, drawing, glass, iron, metals, photography, printmaking and letterpress, textiles, and wood. The school also offers artists' residencies, community collaboration programs, and a gallery and information center.

Korean Onggi vessels are created efficiently by placing long slabs of clay on edge and forming with a wooden paddle and anvil. This traditional technique produces a softly expanding volume of paddled facets. Ubiquitous in Korean homes, the vessels are used as tableware and earthenware storage for fermentation.
