TAS SPOTLIGHT: As a Middle School Grade 7 Science Teacher, Kristen DePass, has just wrapped up her first year at TAS. With a deep passion for sparking student curiosity, Kristen spends her day brainstorming new and exciting ways to bring science to life - always looking for opportunities to make learning meaningful and memorable. Outside of the classroom, Kristen’s curiosity extends into her hobbies—yoga, painting, insects, and exploring forests and beaches around the globe. She shares her TAS journey with her husband, Eddie, and two children, Luke and Natalie, so her life is full of sports, family activities, and plenty of science talk at the dinner table. Kristen is most proud of the diverse opportunities that TAS offers its students. “There are so many chances for kids to discover new passions, get involved in activities, and build connections,” she says. What she loves most about TAS is the students themselves. “They’re incredibly talented and inspiring—as musicians, athletes, advocates, artists, designers, and innovators. I love learning more about who they are outside of class.” Kristen, thank you for nurturing the next generation of scientists, explorers, and lifelong learners. You deserve to take a bow in the spotlight. #TASSpotlight #TASTigers #MiddleSchoolScience (fb)

SCIENTIFIC CURIOSITY ON THE GLOBAL STAGE! On April 25, nine students from our Upper School Scientific Research Program took part in the International STEAM Symposium for Young Researchers at Kobe University, Japan. This annual event brought together high school students from across Japan, and our TAS Tigers, who presented more than 30 original research posters. Eight TAS projects were featured, and Hamilton K.'25 and Katie L.'26 were invited to deliver full symposium talks, sharing insights alongside graduate-level researchers. A special shoutout to Tristin W.'27, who earned an Outstanding Poster Award for her exceptional work! Beyond the symposium, students toured Professor Naoto Ohmura’s chemical engineering lab, where they explored advanced mixing technologies and real-world applications of transport science. We are proud of our students for representing TAS with passion, purpose, and scientific excellence! #TASTigers #ScienceInAction #STEAMSymposium #TaipeiAmericanSchool (fb)
