Epsten Gallery Foundation

The Epsten Gallery Foundation’s mission is to provide innovative programming and art exhibitions that engage, inspire and enlighten a diverse community through all stages of life, celebrating our common humanity through art. The mission is accomplished through the following: Exhibitions: From presenting the work of some of the region’s finest artists to engaging visitors through contemporary art collections to collaborations with museums, the Epsten Gallery has become an essential part of the Kansas City art scene.ARTicipation: ARTicipation was launched in 2012 to introduce an interactive, art-based workshop program in the Epsten. We produce an annual display of artwork produced by the residents we serve at Village Shalom. Artists also conduct studio time and workshops with residents, as well as outside community groups and individuals.Art Therapy: The Art Therapists at the Epsten Gallery work directly with residents, one-on-one, to engage the individual in art-making practices to stimulate their senses and challenge them to access their emotions. Our professional Art Therapists also engage other senior communities in the greater metro area, and patients at Children's Mercy Hospital through a special partnership. Community Outreach: Epsten Gallery collaborates with artists, galleries and museums, schools, community organizations and others in a strategic effort to be inclusive and reach a diverse population of participants.
