Description

Carroll County Youth Service Bureau Inc.

Carroll County Youth Service Bureau Inc. is a U.S. nonprofit organization committed to providing a continuum of community-based mental health and substance use services to children, adults, and families in Carroll County, Maryland. Established in 1972 under the auspices of the Department of Juvenile Services, the organization has evolved into a multi-disciplinary behavioral health practice, incorporating traditional treatment methods with evidence-based practices (EBPs) to deliver effective interventions.

History

CCYSB initially offered counseling services to students in elementary, middle, and high schools, and it established a Social Work Intern program early in its history. Over time, the organization expanded its services to include family therapy, responding to the growing needs of the community. By the early 2000s, CCYSB began integrating evidence-based practices into its treatment programs, which have been academically researched and proven effective.

In 2006, Carroll County Commissioners donated land for the construction of a new facility, allowing CCYSB to secure grants and funds for a significant capital campaign. This new building was completed by 2009 and serves as a welcoming center for clients and families.

Following the closure of Junction, Inc., a local substance abuse treatment provider, in 2011, CCYSB expanded its services to include substance abuse treatment, becoming licensed by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to provide these critical services.
