Chesapeake Bay Floating Theatre Homepage

Chesapeake Bay Floating Theatre, Inc (CBFT) is dedicated to recreating the experience of the James Adams Floating Theatre, the showboat that traversed the Chesapeake Bay in the early 1900's. This cultural tourism site will be an interpretive project traveling to many of the same ports of call visited by the "Original Showboat". In doing so we will endeavor to recreate the experience of the American repertory theatre movement of the early 20th century, revitalize communities, enhance economic development, and augment historic heritage tourism and education in these ports.  CBFT fostered the Indian Head Center for the Arts, a forum for the grassroots development of artistic expression in Indian Head, Charles County and the surrounding areas. The center serves the Targeted Investment Zone of Indian Head and the Southern Maryland Heritage Area. The venue and its programs offer aspiring professional artists and arts organizations a bridge to the established cultural community of the Greater Washington Metropolitan area.
