Matthews Center | Special Education Day School in Virginia

Our program is designed to provide effective behaviorally based intervention for individuals with autism and related disorders. Program development and implementation is unique and individualized for each student. Our goal is to celebrate the child's strengths, and find creative ways to use these strengths. This is done using the principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis. Each individual served by Matthew's Center has goals in the areas of communication and social skills. Depending on the individual assessment completed for each student other areas addressed include: daily living skills, play skills, pre-academic/academic skills, community skills, functional skills, and motor skills. Regardless of the program serving the child, the involvement of family/primary caretaker is imperative in assuring the optimum success.
