Heartland Hoops
MOKAN exists to provide a support system and platform that prepares young men AND women to take advantage of life-changing opportunities! #NIKE #EYBL MOKAN Basketball is a 501(c)3 nonprofit with programming for 2nd-11th graders serving 500+ participants each year through training, camp and team settings. From the outside, we’re Kansas City’s only Nike grassroots basketball program, but that would be selling us far too short. We exist because kids need the gift of presence and an activity to facilitate the learning of life’s most crucial lessons. There are kids all over our region facing poverty, fatherlessness, failing schools and fractured communities. So we use the game of basketball to build character and make academics a priority. Logistically, we field seven nationally competitive High School age teams that travel all over the country to compete in events that will give our kids the chance to earn a college scholarship.
