Alabama Alliance For Arts Education, Inc.
We believe that all children should have equal opportunities to discover and to develop their talents. We believe that all children should have a sequential and comprehensive education in the arts. We believe that all children should gain enough knowledge about the arts in order to understand their own cultural heritage and the cultural heritage of others. What We Do: Build Collaborations: We develop and support innovative collaborations between schools and cultural institutions to promote the arts as equal partners in the educational enterprise. Create Programs for Young People: We provide young people across the state with opportunities to experience the arts through programs such as workshops, performances, and exhibitions. Position the Arts: We work to ensure an effective voice on behalf of arts education before policy-makers and provide strategic input to the State Department of Education, state arts agency, councils, school boards, and educators. Provide Educational Programs: We play an active role in professional development for teachers through educational programs, which include in-services, conferences, symposia, and the development and dissemination of information resources. Lend Support and Assistance: We lend technical and creative assistance to guide local arts and cultural organizations and other stakeholders interested in supporting the arts as key to education. Spearhead Public Education: We implement campaigns to increase public awareness of, and generate media interest for, arts education. Recognize Innovation and Achievement: We acknowledge individuals, schools, and organizations that demonstrate outstanding support for the arts through awards programs.
