Teaching thinking skills, self-esteem and language fluency through creative writing in marginalized and at risk populations throughout the world. Writing Through is a charitable organization which uses creative writing as a tool to develop thinking skills, language fluency and self-esteem in marginalized and at risk populations throughout the world. Writing Through is a unique, proven program of workshops which uses writing poems and stories as a tool to help students and adults learn and think in new ways. Writing Through helps our students find their voices and express their thoughts. This instills confidence and self-esteem, which they carry into every other part of their lives. We challenge our workshop participants first to think in a deeper way about their lives. We work beside local teachers to help them find the English words to express their thoughts, regardless of their level of English fluency. And finally, to stand up and share their words out loud and with pride. Writing Through seeks to help everyone find their unique voice, and use it to navigate their world. We are doing that one poem, one story at a time.
