"The benefits to quitting impact multiple facets of your life including health, financial, and social. There are changes as quickly as 20 minutes after quitting within the body that benefit your health. You can save an average of $2,000 per year. Socially, quitting can reduce isolation, boost self-confidence, and provide new opportunities." ▪️ 20 minutes after quitting your heart rate and blood pressure decrease. ▪️ 12 hours after quitting the carbon monoxide level in your blood returns to normal. ▪️ 2 weeks after quitting circulation improves and your lung function increases. ▪️ 1-9 months after quitting coughing and shortness of breath decrease. ▪️ 1 year after quitting your risk of heart disease is cut in half. ▪️ 2-5 years after quitting your risk for mouth, throat, esophagus and bladder cancers are cut in half. The risk of stroke returns to that for someone who does not use tobacco. ▪️ 10 years after quitting you are half as likely to die from lung cancer compared to someone who continues to use tobacco.
