Camp Phoenix
Camp Phoenix is a justice-centered summer camp for middle-school students from Oakland. Camp Phoenix empowers youth to become leaders within their communities through hands-on academics, outdoor discovery, and personal growth. We do this through a 3-week, overnight summer immersion program and a year-round weekend excursions program exclusively for middle and high school-age youth from low-income households. Community healing and resilience begins with radical joy and natural spaces are ideal locations for fostering connection. We do not differentiate between environmental, racial and social justice; they are one and the same. We envision a Bay Area where outdoor beauty, joyful academic exploration and leadership opportunities are available to all youth and carried out with deep intention toward cultural relevance, equity and inclusion.
