🐾 Alumni Update: Kip (aka “The Kid”) 🐾 When Kip first arrived in our care, his story broke hearts. He had an old, unrepairable fracture in his left leg and a damaged hip — painful, limiting, and long-neglected. He still smiled and wagged his tail stealing the hearts of everyone he met. Thanks to our community, Kip received surgery from an incredibly talented doctor that was able to deepen the groove for his malformed kneecap and stabilize the leg with two pins. The old fracture couldn’t be fixed, but this procedure meant Kip would finally be able to walk — even run — without constant pain. After weeks of rehab, physical therapy, and dedicated at-home care from his loving foster (now forever!) mom Shannon, Kip not only healed… he thrived. When Shannon made the decision to adopt Kip — who affectionately calls “the Kid”— she not only opened her home but also took on the responsibility for his ongoing medical care, an incredible testament to her dedication to this special little guy. ✨ Today, Kip has officially graduated from PT. He zooms around the house and yard “faster than a speeding bullet,” has gained weight and confidence, and wrestles joyfully with his best friend Mr. Slim (who, despite the name, is no longer slim). The two of them are working on their professional wrestling names. 🎭🐕 Kip's still a little lopsided — and still the happiest little guy in the room. Shannon, who also tore her meniscus during Kip’s recovery, says the two of them bonded deeply during their healing journeys. “We’re buddies,” she says. “He drove me to my appointment, and I drove him to his.” Kip is home now.
