Since October of 2024 volunteers in Amory, MS have contributed nearly 20,000 hours of labor across 60 projects. As the Amory response came to a close in late March volunteers held the final home dedication for a family of three generations! A wall hanging was presented that was gifted from Clarence Center – Akron Mennonite Church, Akron, NY. After the dedication, Monroe Strong, the Long Term Recovery Group, treated everyone to a BBQ meal. The final weekly report from Amory noted “We received many words of thanks for the work of MDS in Amory by workers at the hardware stores, people along the street, and the girl making a heart symbol with her hands when she saw the MDS vehicle at a stop sign. Thanks be to God for the impact of MDS on the community of Amory, and for volunteers giving of themselves to be the hands and feet of Jesus.” #MDSResponds #RespondRebuildRestore #MennoniteDisasterService (fb)

The Oklahoma Unit completed work on the Koinoia Mennonite Church in Clinton, Oklahoma, in mid-March. Volunteers installed 22 windows and three commercial doors at the church, which is the oldest Mennonite Indigenous church in North America and was established in 1894. Windows were donated by ProVia in Holmes County, Ohio. The doors were purchased by the Oklahoma MDS Unit and through donations from various Anabaptist congregations in Oklahoma! #MDSResponds #RespondRebuildRestore #MennoniteDisasterService (fb)
