As the designated pro bono arm of the Maryland State Bar Association, we play a unique role as the support, training and advocacy center for pro bono activities. Our ultimate mission is to open the doors of justice for all.

This year PBRC plans to recognize award recipients during MSBAs Legal Summit and Annual Meeting. *NEW* CAP Hotline Training: Housing and Consumer Law Primer | Thursday, August 28, 2025, 9:00AM | Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland, 1500 Union Avenue, Baltimore, MD, 21211 Every day, Marylanders facing eviction or overwhelming debt turn to the Courtroom Advocacy Project (CAP) Hotline for help. As a volunteer, you’ll be the first point of contact—offering guidance, legal information, and referrals that can make all the difference. Open to volunteer lawyers, law students, and paralegals, the CAP Hotline Volunteer training will: 🏠 Provide an overview of the housing and consumer issues facing low-income individuals and families in Maryland; 📞 Prepare volunteers to assist hotline callers by providing guidance and referrals; and 🎯 Equip volunteers with the knowledge and awareness they need to get the most out of courtroom observations.

There are two weeks left to apply to PBRC’s Professional Skills Academy. If you are interested in stepping outside your comfort zone and using your law license to serve your neighbors in need, with a community of mentors and other Fellows at your side, then the Academy is for you. Fellows who join will: ✅ Gain training and practical mentorship to enhance their lawyering skills, ✅Build skills in fact-gathering, negotiation, in-court representation, counseling, and document drafting, ✅Build an intentional pro bono plan and gain experience offering free legal services in court and at community clinics, and ✅Be introduced to like-minded colleagues with whom they will make lasting connections.
