All persons - regardless of age, seizure type, or cause of seizures - are supposed to be referred for a surgical evaluation at an experienced epilepsy center after trying two appropriate and tolerated anti-seizure medications doesn't stop the seizures. Remember - having a surgical evaluation doesn't mean that you have decided your child is going to have surgery.
