The Umstead Coalition is pleased to share this exciting news. This tract is adjacent to William B. Umstead State Park and Richland Creek. In the 1980 and 1990's, the Umstead Coalition helped to preserve this land by stopping a major highway, the proposed Duraleigh Road Connector, which was propose to bisect this tract and take Park land and sever this vital wildlife corridor. We thank the Walton family, Triangle Land Conservancy, and Wake County for their forever protection of one of the most valuable open space tracts in our State. (fb)
