Let’s recap Day 2 of Opera Conference 2025! We kicked off the day with a plenary session, “Exploring Opera’s Value,” and in the afternoon, the Co-Production Assembly provided a key opportunity for companies to explore new models of collaboration. Our 2025 Robert L.B. Tobin Director-Designer Prize recipients also presented their prize-winning production concepts. OPERA America’s annual Opera Conference is officially underway here in vibrant Memphis! We’re thrilled to welcome all of our 2025 attendees for four exciting days of learning, collaboration, and inspiration. This week features Plenary Sessions, Breakout Sessions, Roundtable Discussions, a New Works Pitch Session, Member Presentations, and the debut of our Co-Production Assembly—all designed to spark dialogue and strengthen our field. Yesterday’s highlights included Opening Remarks and an inspiring keynote address from Deborah F. Rutter, followed by the thought-provoking plenary session: “Opera’s Next Era.” We closed out the evening with the Host Company Reception to celebrate the start of a powerful week.
