Marist Broadcasting Club (MBC) students got a behind-the-scenes look at professional sports media during an exciting visit to TNT Sports on May 1. The group toured the network’s studios, including the sets for NHL and NBA playoff coverage, and sat in on editorial planning meetings for both leagues’ postseason broadcasts. A highlight of the day was time spent with Ernie Johnson, Jr. ’74, longtime host of NBA on TNT and a beloved Marist alumnus. Johnson warmly welcomed the students, shared career insights, and even featured them live during a bump-in on the NBA Tip-Off show. The field trip, led by MBC moderator and broadcast journalism teacher Mr. Scott Tufts, offered students the opportunity to learn from top-tier professionals and imagine future careers in sports media.
